ANTI-SEMITISM:
What's the big fuss?
- A panel from
Community Alliance of Lane County
Anti-Semitism is once again in the news, locally and
nationally. What exactly is it? Who is harmed by it? Who
perpetuates it? What can we do about it?
Understanding the nature and mechanisms of anti- Semitism
is critically important for building safe communities where
hate and bias are not tolerated at home or abroad.
This program will examine the pervasiveness of anti-Jewish
stereotypes, the historical patterns of anti-Semitism and how
people in our community have been affected by it.
It will also offer some tools and guidelines for those who
want to be allies in the struggle against anti-Semitism.
Presenters will be members from the "Understanding Anti-
Semitism Project," a program of Community Alliance of Lane
County. Members include Joan Bayliss, Irwin Noparstak,
Marion Malcolm and Sally Sheklow.
Our first questioner, Munir Katul,
was raised in Jerusalem and Beirut.
He is a longtime City Club member,
and a retired physician.
