Early in 2007, the local chapter of professional architects
began the public phase of an ambitious project. The effort
has since attracted attention across the country from other
architects, politicians, and now even on Google-Earth.
If you log into earth.google.com and choose "featured
content," you'll find links there to Eugene's Franklin Corridor
study.
City Club of Eugene co-sponsored the two public workshops
in February and April. Many members participated. We heard
from these speakers in February, but mostly heard about the
questions involved in connecting our communities along the
road and riverway called the Franklin Corridor.
Now answers are beginning to come. Certain trends have
been identified, some notable ideas have been introduced,
and a plan is emerging to keep the conversation going. This
will be our chance to hear about this and where it all goes
from here.
Of course, questions will continue, and City Club members
will bring them to this meeting.
Don Kahle coordinated this meeting.
Frances Bronet, Dean of the UO
School of Architecture and Allied
Arts, will ask the first question.
