MEASURING MEASURES:
Should We Change M37?

  • Senator Floyd Prozanski
  • Dave Hunnicutt, Oregonians In Action

Measure 37, passed in 2004, requires governments to either pay landowners when regulations reduce property values or waive the regulations.

Measure 49, which will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot, modifies Measure 37. It clarifies private landowners' rights to build homes, extends rights to surviving spouses, limits large developments and protects farmlands, forestlands and groundwater supplies.

Senator Floyd Prozanski will tell us why we should vote YES on Measure 49.

Prozanski is state senator for District 4, which covers large portions of Lane and Douglas counties.

Dave Hunnicutt, president of Oregonians in Action, will tell us why we should vote NO on Measure 49. Oregonians in Action is the Tigard-based property-rights group that led the campaigns for the 2004 measure.

Our first question will be asked by Rob Zako, transportation advocate of 1000 Friends of Oregon.
